Mr. Asewe, is a consultant in areas of sustainability with 15 years of experience in sustainability and corporate best practices supporting industries, government, law enforcement both locally and internationally. As a chemist by background, he has served in both industries, government and the NGO space as well through management level service, consultancy, research and capacity building. He has conducted several local and international conferences, workshop and courses on topics around the following areas of expertise: International chemical laws, Plastic waste, Circular economy, chemical security, chemical safety, Circular economy, Sound Chemicals management, waste management, Responsible care, environment management and sustainability, transport safety, GHS, HAZMAT, HAZWOPER, CBRN, good manufacturing practices (GMP), emergency response, dangerous goods handling, quality control, risk management, stewardship, water and waste water management. Countries where he has been involved in training of experts and mentored in setting up various national framework on sustainable practices in some of the various good practices listed above include: Kenya, Nigeria, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Libya, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Philippines, South Africa, Uganda, Somali. Some of the national and regional projects he has been involved in: Responsible Care Kenya as the chairman technical committee: He led the team that established Responsible Care in Kenya and currently the chairman of the technical committee for responsible care Kenya (RCK). Responsible care ensures industries establishment of policies and regulations to ensure excellence in environment health, safety and security. UNEP as industry consultant: Has been engaged as the regional industry consultant for the United Nation’s project “Increasing the global implementation of GHS through a pilot focusing on Africa” where he supports capacity building for industries in the four beneficiary countries Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana and Core D’Ivoire. The role involves creating national working groups focusing on strengthening the private sector towards adapting to the new regulations on implementing laws on the UN’s Globally Harmonized System of classification and labeling of chemicals. Ministry of environment as the project consultant: Consulting for the ministry of environment on a project on “Circular and POPs-free Plastics in Africa” the main objective of the project in Kenya is to reduce the import, production and use of POPs in plastic-containing products in the automotive sector, and the generation of uPOPs. Nigeria as lead industry consultant RESCON: Involves as a consultant in Nigeria to support the establishment of a joint chemical sector industries association Responsible Care Of Nigeria (RESCON) that will be a group for industries to share best practices on voluntary self-regulations and good practices. International Subject matter expert for the US department of state: Actively involved as an expert consultant by the US funded projects in capacity building of management of chemical safety and security globally in projects in different countries. He has worked with the US chemical security program as a subject matter expert to train chemical security to various sectors from law enforcement, industries and government both in Kenya and different countries and has also worked with OPCW as a speaker on chemical security matters. Besides work Peter likes to travel, learn new cultures, explore natural environment, museums, take walks in natural environment and being around large waterbodies like oceans, lakes and rivers.
